Silver Cigar Bands

The use of gold leaf or faux gold was very common on old cigar bands in the era from 1900 to 1930, however faux silver was only infrequently used, mainly because the aluminum powder employed to achieve the look of silver was volatile and difficult to work with. This exhibit displays several vintage cigar bands from the early 1900s with silver instead of gold.
