Guru Guru is certainly the most popular band in Germany and is already known to some people in the USA (ask Saul of TRlAD Radio or take a look at the ZMF-playlist-just to name two of them).
All the last LP-studio productions are going to be pushed back by the new LIVE-LP;for Guru Guru owe their popularity to their stage performance; that is proved by their new LIVE-LP. And - they know very well that rock music is a visual medium.Mani Neumeier created already in 1972 the first German rock-music-sketch "The Electric Batrachian" and in 1978, playing with the best musicians Guru Guru ever had, the stage act finds a new revival. Actualities are taken up like "Moroso" (against nuclear power stations) or the "Atomic Salamander" (about mutations).
"...the best Guru Guru you've ever heard!" This quotation of.a rock-journalist doesn't mean that Guru Guru only produce rock or "jazzy" rock music. Another quotation of a German pressman: "Guru Guru rushed screaming like a bunch of red Indians playing primeval rockmusic at the ears of the responding audience. Fantastic light effects, rags and great costumes of east asia; pans bursting into flames; flash lights, small and big gongs, cow-bells and spicy rock-sounds."

Already in 1972 Guru Guru was broadcasted by "THE BEATCLUB" TV.
But now, let's talk only about the past year: Nobody can tell how many people have already seen Guru Guru live. This year hundreds of thousands of fans listened to them in about 80 concerts, the big festivals not counted yet. But they are not only famous for their terrific stage acts. In January they were the main actors in the 90 minutes TV screenplay "SELF DEFENSE". During the Christmas-festival of the "ROCKPALAST" (TV), Guru Guru was second and left behind famous names like ERIC BURDON, LITTLE FEAT and PROCOL HARUM... And they've been at the new telecast ROCK/POP (ZDF-TV) -also a million spectators!). All the performances of Autumn '78 had been taped by Petrus Wippel. In December Guru Guru worked in their, Guru-Mountain Studio".
After their holidays in Marocco, lreland, Maledives, Berlin, and Tirol, the band is now preparing for their promotion-tour for their LIVE double LP which consists of 70% not yet produced materials. They are on tour in 30 German cities and in between -they give performances in Switzerland and Austria (in Switzerland a 45 minute music TV-show with Guru Guru had been broadcasted in March '78). The tour goes on in Italy, France, Spain, and Portugal. The tour is promoted by the leading German music magazines (SOUNDS, MUSIC EXPRESS, MUSIC JOKER...) and many other newspapers. Oddly enough, (Guru Guru - living in a black forest castle - are not so interested in England but they'd rather prefer the USA, famous as the country of the "unlimited possibilities". The frantic ovations of American visitors at Guru Guru concerts prove that the band is able to catch the American mentality.
