Just a few scribblings on the brown paper bag of life. Who am I? If you care, click through to to some pics and personalish info about me. Vintage August, 2000 If not, jump down below the horizontal rule and head straight for what I laughingly call content.
Big Fat Warning: this page is amidst a revision, or set of revisions and content-addings, to bring it
back up to date after, ahem, not touching it for three years. Some parts are still old (noted below); some
aren't. For the latest skinny, check the News and Updates page.
Points of Interest:
- Science Fiction Fandom: Fandom is a multifarious beast, consisting of people and activities related to, occurring at, or attending science fiction conventions. You'll find my convention reports here. Updated April 2001
I regularly attend several local Chicago-area conventions, like DucKon, WindyCon, and CapriCon. I also, in August 2000, attended the Chicago Worldcon, Chicon 2000.- Filk: The folk music of science fiction fandom is perhaps one of the simplest definitions. To me, it's something between a hobby and an obsession; but it's definitely creative, and often more musical than what you hear on the radio (with infinitely more interesting words!) C'mon in for more definitions and discussion, and a goodly helping of annotated links so you can look into it for yourself, should you choose. Vintage September 2000
- Also filk-related is my growing list of what filk recordings I have, and what I think of them :-> Yet More Annotated Links, woohoo. Updated April 2001
- I'm hosting housefilks now, or trying to. Updated (Thursday) December 20th, 2001
- Playing Guitar - own page coming soon. I've recently (summer '00) enrolled in an introductory course from the Old Town School of Folk Music here in Chicago. Vintage June 2000
- SCA: The Society for Creative Anachronism, a medieval-and-renaissance historical recreation type group. Here you will find an annotated link collection, and even a bit of content I wrote by my ownself. Vintage June 2000
- Poetry: Some things I wrote back in my depressive high school days; apparently my brain needs angst to create deeply moving stuff along these lines, since I don't seem to be able to do it anymore. Some of it is better than others, but this is all I got. Vintage 1997
- Roleplaying: Primarily WoD and AD&D. Vintage 1997
- Reading: I love sci-fi, fantasy, and much more - herein find my (hopefully) ever-growing ramblings on the subject of books, authors, and why I like (or dislike) what I do. Your mileage may vary. I keep meaning to add new essays in here ... someday. Vintage 1997
- TV: Babylon 5, XFiles, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Trek, and much more. Vintage 1997 - some links known to be broken
- Crafts: Not just in the SCA; I've been making and doing and futzing since I was quite a small child. Vintage March 2000
