Lot's of happenings on the Euro-rock scene these days both here and across the big swamp. SOLUTION has their latest album "Cordon Bleu" out here on Rocket Records...SCORPION's single relese is the title track from their current LP "In Trance." They recently finished a British tour but have not yet made any definite plans for a tour here...Hottest rumour ging is the albuym KRAFTWERK and BOWIE are planning to work on together. Kreftwerk just finished off their next album which is tentively called "Europe Endless." It promises to be much harder and less cereberal than "Radio Activity" and should be released here in a couple of months. Bowie too has a new album coming out soon...BABE RUTH has gone through a major personnel change sine their last el pea but they manage to sound better than ever on their new album "Kid's Stuff."...Both JAN HAMMER and MICHAL URBANIAK have two new albums out currently. Each has an album out on the MPS label. Hammer's record is an acoustic jazz trio affair with a sound coming out of the fifties. It's called "Make Love." Urbaniak's MPS album is called "A Tribute to Komeda" and is much closer to modern times. Urbaniak also has his first for Arista released and Hammer has his second for Nemporer...Italian group LIBRA has their second album out here for Motown...BARRABAS from Spain have a new LP out here on Atco... The British are coming. The British are coming. And just n time for the bi-centennial. JEFF BECK, RUSS BALLARD, BOXER, and SAILOR are all currently starting off extensive American tours...Reggae riff: The MIGHTY DIAMONDS, heard occasionaly on Triad broadcasts (I Need A Roof), will have an LP released here in June. Reggae albums also due from U. ROY, and PETER TOSH, one of the original members of the WAILERS band...Over There: lots of good listening from the other side of the big swamp. One of the most interesting is the latest from GURU GURU. Called "Tango Fango," and is the most original sound from them yet...THIJS VAN LEER, keyboards nd flute with FOCUS, has another solo album out called "Oh My Love"...Funniest album title of the year has to be the latest from MISSUS BEASTLY. It's titled "Dr. Aftershave and the Mixed Pickles" on the April label. Also from the April label a live album from EMBRYO and SPARFUNKEL's "Bayern Rock."...From France three very interesting albums from the Disjuncta label. HELDON is the group fromed by the founder of the label, Richard Pinhas. Influences are Eno, Robert Wyatt, Hendrix and King Crimson. ZAO is an off-shoot of MAGMA and their second album is called "Osiris."...The long awaited initial release from SKy Records is finally making its way into the import bins. This includes albums by HARLIS, with ex members of JANE and the SCORPIONS, RAMSES, STREETMARK, and BREAKFAST...Don't forget to tune in Rock Around the World, heard on Triad at Midnight on Tuesdays, and Sounds from Across the Big Swamp, heard Mondays at Ten PM. You'll hear many of the sounds mentined in this column on both of these programs.
