EUROCK

for April 1975

There has been a lot happening in European Rock since the last Euro-Rock column, most of it concerning German groups. Starting with some old, but good, news; TANGERINE DREAM along with PFM, were voted as the "Brightest Hopes" in the 1974 International Pop Poll of Melody Maker...More new domestic albums have been released here by GOLDEN EARRING, PASSPORT, AMON DUUL 2, LUCIFER's FRIEND, GONG, OSSANA, and OMEGA...New imports also have been released including NEU 75, CLUSTER "Zuckerzeit," JANE "Lady, " KRAAN "Live," SCORPIONS "Fly To The Rainbow," and KLAUS SCHULZE "Picture Music."...Many European groups are either on tour or planning tours in the U.S. Included are PASSPORT, who were in Chicago last month; KRAFTERK who'll be here on April 19; GROBSCHNITT who will be touring Canada; CAN and NEKTAR who should be coming within the next few months...GURU GURU broke up a little while back, but Mani Neumeier, drummer and driving force behind the group, is keeping busy playing with HARMONIA, a German group composed of ex-NEU and ex-CLUSTER members as well as KRAAN and Ax Genrich, the old guitarist from GURU GURU...KRAFTWERK lost their violinist but in the process have gained a second drummer...and as a final note, for the past several months (six to be exact) there has been a daytime radio program devoted entirely to conitinental European Rock. Called "Europe Rock," you can listen to it on Friday afternoons from 1PM to 2PM on radio station WVVX out of suburban Highland Park at 103.1 FM...That just about does it. Don't forget to catch TRIAD which always plays some Euro-rock, especially on Monday nights during SOUNDS FROM ACROSS THE BIG SWAMP, which is moving back to its old time of 10PM this month!
